DODA, July 8: The locals and relatives of cylinder blast victims of Bhalessa today held massive protest against Government, district administration and health authorities outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office, here.
The protesting people alleged that no treatment has been given by doctors in the hospital in Doda since last night. The protesters also blocked the Jammu-Doda highway for over two hours by carrying burn injured persons on stretchers.
The incident of cylinder blast took place late night on Friday in the house of Zakir Hussain Wani in village Haloore in Bhalessa area of Sub Division, wherein seven members of his family received severe burn injuries and were admitted in SDH Gandoh from where they were later referred to District Hospital Doda.
Javed Iqbal an attendant said that there was no doctor available during night and delay in giving treatment to the victims forced them to protest against Government. “The authorities turned blind eye towards the problems we are facing”, he added.
After getting information, police team along with officials from the district administration rushed to the spot and assured the protesting people of proper treatment to the injured persons.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the highway.
