SAMBA, Dec 24: Local people held a demonstration demanding construction of flyover in Jatwal area of tehsil Ghagwal of district Samba.
The protest was led by local leader Raj Khajuria and Naib Sarpanch Kishori Lal. They said that due to further widening of Jammu Pathankot National Highway at Jatwal Bus Stand, about 200 shops on both sides of the road will be demolished due to which business will come to an end.
Raj Khajuria said that they have also met the District Development Commissioner, Samba and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and they protested against the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), but this morning the people of the Revenue Department started measuring the place, which they opposed. He said if a flyover is built on the National Highway, then the shops in the area will also be saved and shopkeepers will continue to run their daily life.
He said the protesters tried to wake up the administration.“ If they do not pay any attention to our demand, then we will be forced to block the Jammu -Pathankot National Highway, for which the administration will be responsible”. Many local people including Aarti Khatri, Needu Patti, Pranav Sharma, Premnath, Kewal Krishna, Ravi Kumar, Bhushan Kumar Raj Khajuria, Kishori Lal Naib Sarpanch were also participated in the demonstration.
