People protest death of woman

MENDHAR, Dec 9: While a Medical Board today conducted postmortem on the body of young woman who died with the reaction after being administered  wrong injection by a medical assistant at Mendhar last evening, the relatives of the victim and villagers held strong protest with the dead body on the road near hospital here today.
On the Directions of District Magistrate Poonch, M H Malik two doctors deputed from Poonch namely Dr Mushtaq Zafri and Dr Maqsood Ahmed  conducted autopsy of the body at SDH Mendhar under camera and sent the report to FSL, Jammu. After the postmortem, the relatives and villagers kept the dead body of  the victim Gushan Kouser (28) on the road near Hospital and started protest demonstration at around 10 am.
The relatives of the woman from parents side, hailing from Shopian district had also arrived in large number. They held strong protest against the Mendhar Hospital authorities, Director Health Jammu, Health Minister Lal Singh and Drug Controller Jammu.
They demanded registration of FIR against doctor who gave prescription, his suspension and cancellation of license of Chemist (Majid Medical Hall Mendhar). They continued protest upto 12.15 pm and then shifted the body to her home village for last rites with the intervention of senior officers and MLA.
Meanwhile, a team led by Addl DC Poonch and assisted by  CMO Poonch Dr Mumtaz Bhatti and Tehsildar Mendhar will hold inquiry into the case and submit the report to District Magistrate within 10 days. Director Health Jammu Dr Pathania has also initiated an inquiry into the matter.
Meanwhile, a team of Drug Controller office Jammu reached Mendhar today and lifted samples of medicines from Majid Medical Hall and several other chemist shops. The samples were sent for Lab tests.
