People protest, block road against power cuts

JAMMU, June 2: The irate residents of Kathua held a protest demonstration here today and blocked Nagri -Parole road against power crisis in the area.
The protesters warned to intensify agitation in case power supply did not improve in the town they will be forced to launch a massive agitation against PDD and Government.
They said that people are put to many hardships due to power crisis in this hot summer and the children, old and infirm are worst sufferers as they can’t tolerate the blackout for long in this hot summer.
Meanwhile, a deputation of the people from Kharote called on Deputy Commissioner, Kathua and expressed concern over water scarcity in the area. They warned that in case problem is not solved people will come to streets.
Another deputation of people from various areas of Kathua and Hiranagar called on DC Kathua expressing concern over delay in giving possession to the people belonging to SC and ST communities who were allotted five marlas of land for construction of house by Government.
They said the people were allotted five marlas of land in 1966 but till date no possession was given. They said allotments were again issued in 2012 but the people could not get possession as the land was occupied by Gujjars forcefully and Government till date has failed to restore the same.
They said in case the Government is unable to restore the land, the people on their own will free it from encroachers. The delegation was led by BJP district president, Prem Nath Dogra.
