People protest, block road as school girl dies in accident

RAJOURI, Aug 1: The people from Taryath area of Kalakote  in district Rajouri  today held strong protest and blocked  Reasi-Taryath-Kalakote-Rajouri road for about five hours after a minor school girl was killed in a road accident at Taryath town near her school this aftgernoon.
The deceased was identified as KG student, Lavya Sharma, daughter of Naresh Sharma, resident of  village Saroh (Dablian) in Taryath Tehsil of Kalakote Sub Division.
A police spokesman said that incident took place at around 2. 10 pm when the girl after closing of school was returning home. She was waiting for the school bus  and while crossing  road near her school a bike No. JK20A/2607, driven by one Sanjeev Sharma of Taryath hit her badly. The girl was rushed to Taryath hospital, where  she was declared as brought dead.
Immediately after hearing about the incident, the parents  and other family members of the deceased girl rushed to the hospital. The relatives and villagers in large number assembled in Hospital. The police had already arrested   the youth, Sanjeev Kumar Sharma and seized  his motorcycle.
The irate mob then went to the Police Station and burnt the bike. They also tried to beat up the accused driver but the police intervened.  They also allegedly smashed the window panes of a school  vehicle.
Later, the people went to their village about 3 kms away from Taryath and then blocked main road at Dhanrote around 4 pm. The movement of vehicles was stalled on this road. They demanded action against the  Munshi of Taryath  Police Station Pawan Kumar and   SPO Kalu Ram for their negative role.  They also demanded action against the private school Administration for the negligence.  Naib Tehsildar and a police officer went to the people at round 7 pm and asked them to lift dharna but the people continued their protest demanding suspension of cops. Road was still blocked at around  9 pm , a Police official said.
