People protest, block road as biker crushed to death

RAJOURI, Oct 18: Irate villagers block Jammu-Poonch road near Rajouri and held strong protest demonstration after a young motor-cyclist was crushed to death by an unknown vehicle this afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Adrash Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Talwal village near Rajouri. The youth left for the house from his relatives on his bike at around 2.15 pm. He had moved hardly 4-5 km when an unknown vehicle hit his bike with great force from back and crushed him to death on the spot.
The vehicle banished from the spot from the site. The residents of the area rushed to the spot and found youth lying dead. They covered the body with cloth and blocked Rajouri-Poonch road at around 3 pm. The family members and relatives of the of the  youth also arrived there.
Police party from Rajouri led by SHO, Chaman Gorkha  reached along with police. He disclosed that all the police nakas were informed  about the accident. The people refused to clear the road continued their protest. Later, ADC Mumtaz Choudhary and SSP Rajouri Dr Haseeb Mughal also arrived. They asked the people allow shifting of dead body for postmortem to Rajouri hospital to make case strong.
The people however, wanted the post mortem to be conducted at the spot. A doctor from Rajouri hospital conducted postmortem  there and the body was handed over to the family for last rites. The people then lifted dharna at round 6.30 pm. The police has registered a case in this connection. The vehicle remained untraced when the last reports came in.
