Minor girl kidnapped in Rajouri

RAJOURI, Sept 27: The people held strong protest near Muradpur bridge and blocked Jammu-Poonch Highway near Rajouri today after a minor- girl of minority community was allegedly kidnapped by some youth of the other community from Dangri area in Rajouri district.
Reports said that a teen- aged girl was allegedly kidnapped by a youth of the other community from Dangri area of Rajouri on Thursday. It was alleged by the parents of the girl that one Mehboob Manhas resident of Rajouri town along with his few associates, kidnapped the girl and the girl could not be traced after long search by the family members and relatives.
They lodged an FIR with the Rajouri police last evening. But as the girl could not be traced. Today at around 10 am, the family members, relatives and other people from the area came out on the road near Muradpur bridge and the sat on dharna on Jammu-Poonch highway. They raised barricades and stalled movement of vehicles. The highway remained blocked for two hours.
Later, Addl SP Rajouri Liaqat, along with DySP headquarters reached the spot and pacified the agitation people from minority community. They assured fair investigation and said that the girl will be recovered shortly.
Meanwhile, after public pressure the SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas framed SIT led by DySP Headquarters Surinder Padyar. The police claimed to have detained four persons in this connection. But the girl could not be traced till late this evening.
