POONCH, Apr 8: A large number of people from Sathra and adjoining villages today came out on Jammu-Poonch road and disrupted movement of traffic for about four hours and shouted slogans against the Administration.
The people who have suffered massive damages during recent rains and floods came out on the road at Sathra and blocked the highway. They alleged that several bridges have washed away and roads remain blocked. The people are facing scarcity of ration, kerosene oil, LPG and other items. The Administration has failed to restore roads and bridges and provide essential services to the people.
They also raised slogans against PDP-BJP Government and MP Jammu-Poonch Constituency Jugal Kishore Sharma and MLA Poonch from PDP. They alleged that both of them have been least bothered about the plight of the people. They also raised loud slogans and alleged that even the MP was not seen in the area since long.
A large number of vehicles remained stranded for hours together and students and Government employees could not reach their destinations. Later, Tehsildar Poonch and SHO reached the spot at around 12.30 pm and they motivated the villagers seeking 7 days time from them to restore roads and improve supplies. Later, the villagers lifted dharna and allowed movement of traffic at around 1 pm.
