UDHAMPUR, Mar 7: The people from various wards of Udhampur town including some activists from a local NGO held a protest against scarcity of ration near Hanuman Temple here today.
Parshotam Singh, president of the NGO was leading the protest. The people were shouting slogans against the CAPD Department for induction of non-deserving people in the BPL lists and deletion of the names of deserving people.
They demanded that deserving people be included in the BPL lists.
They further alleged that there was scarcity of ration and many depots were lying dry. They demanded that atta and sugar be provided at the ration depots as the public is suffering badly. They criticized the senior officers in the department for keeping no check on the public distribution system.
They said problem of ration and BPL category have been received from various villages in the district and the department should take affective measures.
