REASI, Apr 15: To lodge protest against dubious role of police in alleged murder of a youth, whose body was found from Chenab waters, locals in Jyotipuram held a strong protest demonstration and blocked Jammu-Reasi road.
Shouting slogans against the District Police administration, the protesting youth staged a dharna on the road and did not allow movement of vehicles for more than four hours.
They alleged that Police was trying to shield alleged killers of Ram Singh, who was a rising cricketer.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Reasi Nirmal Sharma reached the spot and pacified protesters assuring that necessary action would be taken to unfold the death mystery following which the dharna was lifted.
As reported in today’s edition of the Excelsior, Ram Singh was missing since April 8 and his body was recovered yesterday from Chenab water near IRP Centre in Talwara.
