The local people led by Sarpanch, Jarai, Aradhana Andotra protested against mismanagement of police and manhandling of a Junior Engineer of Irrigation Department, Rashpal Singh, who was going to attend his job at village Jarai and passing through Bhagthali Police Nakka today. He was harassed by Kathua police and his Scooty was also damaged and he was not allowed to attend his duty in the village by police at Nakka point. The police official on duty did not listen to him when he requested them that he was going to village for official purpose.
When local people came to know about the unwanted episode, the Sarpanch, Aradana Andotra and people rushed to Nakka point and raised their protest against the attitude of police. They condemned the attitude of police. The Sarpanch Aradhana Andotra said that the nakka point is raised to check the illegal entry of out of State visitors following the COVID-19 SOPs. But some villages of J&K fall across the nakka and local people move via the nakka after showing Aadhar cards. Many times local people were harassed and out of State influential people were given the safe passage, said Sarpanch.
She said that during the night hours number of illegal activities take place through this route. But police did not bother to check it. She asked the Kathua police do not harass the local people and put a tight vigil on illegal activities going on the inter-State border. The Junior Engineer of Irrigation also showed strong resentment of harassing him when he was on the duty.
