UDHAMPUR, May 13: The people including patients and attendants held protest demonstrated against District Hospital Administration, Udhampur and blocked Dhar Road today.
Reports said some patients and attendants who had gone to Hospital found that some doctors were on strike and not attending OPD. Many people had been waiting for the doctors.
Later, they moved to Dhar Road near Hospital, at Udhampur and sat on dharna. The movement of the vehicles was stalled on this busy road. They were shouting slogans against Health Department and Child Specialist doctor who was not performing his duty in OPD block in District Hospital, Udhampur besides a few others.
It was learnt that some doctors were on protest against the controversial order of CMO Udhampur. Later, they were having some meeting with the Hospital Superintendant. In between the patients even who had come from various villages in the hot weather conditions, kept suffering for long.
Later, Police and Dy Supt District Hospital Udhampur reached the spot and pacified the protestors and also assured them that doctors will examine all patients those have taken registration slips from the counter of hospital.
Meanwhile, Doctors Association Jammu alleged that Dr Deepak, Child Specialist posted at District Hospital Udhampur was being harassed as he had refused to attend a VIP’s child at home few days ago. Association said after Reasi controversy, Govt had issued clear orders in this regard. CMO had asked Dr Deepak to attend child of DC at home which he refused. After that CMO issued order and directed this doctor to attend Chenani hospital for two days in a week. The Association members protested against VIP culture and controversial order of CMO. After the intervention of Director Health Services Jammu the matter was later resolved. Association sought intervention of Advisor, K Vijay Kumar and Principal Secretary, Health Atul Dulloo into the matter.
