People protest against closure of Govt schools

MANDI, Oct 18: The people from Arai and adjoining area held protest demonstration against the menace of closure of Government schools in remote areas and lack of supervision by the senior Education officers.
The people hailing from Arai led by local social activist Moulvi Fareed held protest against the teachers and the Education authorities. They alleged that many Government Primary and Middle Schools remain closed and in some schools teachers sit hardly for 1-2 hours and then leave closing them. They said there was no check on the activities of the teachers and students of the area are suffering. It has become routine of many teachers to reach late and close school by 12 noon whereas, the school time is from 10 am to 4 pm.
Later, the villagers met the ZEO Mandi, Nazir Ahmed and demanded action against the teachers for not performing their duty properly. They also gave the list of the teachers and schools where this practice was going on. The ZEO said that he has already started surprise checking and was getting feed back from local Panchayat members.
