JAMMU, Oct 3: Senior Congress leader and former minister, Raman Bhalla today targeted BJP Government, claiming that its last seven years rule was marked by perpetual confrontation with the opposition, unaccountable centralization of power and authoritarian style of functioning.
While interacting with the people at Gorkha Nagar in Gandhinagar constituency today Bhalla said the people of Jammu region, irrespective of religion, caste and creed, believe in the singular entity of Jammu and Kashmir. They want equal opportunities and fulfillment of their aspirations. Ignoring the Jammu interest tantamount to insulting the self-respecting people. “The time is not far when the people will make the exploiters, in different manifestations including those pretending to be the `Messiahs’ of people, accountable for their sins committed against Jammu,” he added.
Congress leader said that youth were misled with a promise to provide them employment. But unemployment has increased. As far as development is concerned, it is nowhere. He said that the non-performance of BJP has put people under financial distress. The tourism sector is in the worst condition like the transport, business, and industrial sector. The people are losing their jobs and the unemployment is increasing even in the private sector. The Govt has not been able to hold recruitment on the vacant posts,” he said.
Terming the performance of BJP Govt as dismal, Bhalla said that the Govt has nothing to claim as its achievement. He said that Govt has set up new records of failures during its seven years of rule in first term and its second term at the Centre with all sections of society facing problems. “The policy of the Modi Govt has ensured that the farmers and traders are forced to hit roads and has created an army of unemployed youth. Every section of society is on the roads due to wrong policies of Govt,” he said.
Hitting out at BJP-led Government in the Centre, former minister said that the promises made while imposing new laws in J&K, including flooding the region with investment, bringing about more employment and development, were nowhere visible. He slammed BJP for putting Jammu’s interests and development subservient to the pleasure of vested interests. He regretted that the people of Jammu are paying price of giving mandate to BJP.
