JAMMU, Oct 3: Vijay Nagar Residents Welfare Society (VNRWS) has expressed concern over the deep drain being constructed through their locality.
They called the project “ill conceived” as the present alignment and course line of the drain is likely to pose flood threat to some houses during rains.
The residents of Vijay Nagar demanded that the course of the drain should be revisited.
In a handout Sanjay Mahajan, VNRWS president said they lodged a complaint in this regard at LG’s portal to which the concerned Chief Engineer replied that it was all a futile exercise by the VNRWS.
He also said that they brought the matter into the notice of Advisor (B) of the LG but again the reply from the concerned Chief Engineer was not proper.
The VNRWS claimed that the plan of the deep drain is ill-conceived and faulty as there is no consideration in the plan for the exit flow point of the deep drain under construction.
“The present exit of the drain does not permit the water and effluent to exit fully because of narrow outlet due to less space available there,” VNRWS office bearers stated adding: “This will trigger back flow of the water which may lead to flooding of lanes and houses there during rainy season.”
