JAMMU, July 4: The people in rural belt of Jammu are up in arms against the increasing power cuts, voltage fluctuations and intermittent tripping.
The residents of Muthi, Swaran Vihar, Gurah Keran Bantalab, Barnai, Dharmal, Kotian Netar and Patoli Brahmana in Raipur Damana Assembly segment warned the Government that in case immediate steps were not taken to improve the power supply in these localities they will be left with no option but to come to streets and launch an indefinite agitation against the PDD as well as the coalition government.
“We voted for BJP for better facilities and amenities of life but for last over one month we are facing continuous 11 to 12 hour power cuts, voltage fluctuation and intermittent tripping”, said Ashok Sharma a social activist of Patoli Brahmana.
He said people are passing sleepless nights due to power cuts during night and this has happened for the first time that the PDD has enforced the night curtailments in the area for hours together.
The power cuts of long duration have been enforced on hapless people of the rural Jammu by the PDD in this hot and humid Summer making it difficult for the old, infirm and children to pass the days, said Narinder Singh another social activist of Barnai. He said people are feeling like a fish in frying pan during the power curtailment in this scorching heat of Summer.
He made an appeal to local MLA Bali Bhagat to look into the problem immediately and take up the issue with power authorities failing which the people will be forced to launch agitation against the Government and PDD.
He said BJP had promised the heaven during the elections but our position is worst than what is described about the hell. The people have been deprived even of basic amenities of life like power and water, he added.
