KATHUA, Sept 11: Irate residents of Ward Number 13 and 14 of Kathua town today held a demonstration and blocked the Kathua -Pathankote road in protest against the water scarcity in the area.
The protestors alleged that they were facing acute water shortage for last four days and the authorities were taking no interest to restore the water supply in the area.
Later they lifted the road blockade on the intervention of senior civil and police officers who assured them that the water supply will be restored soon.
Meanwhile over 11 delegations of the people from various areas of kandi belt of Kathua district met the DC, Kathua in his office chambers complaining that the Kandi belt and rural areas of the district were facing acute scarcity of water and power crisis for last over one month.
The delegations expressing their concern said that the authorities should take immediate steps in solving the problem as the power and water crisis have forced the people to come to streets resulting into road blockades.
