People block NH at Rajbagh, Samba

SAMBA, Aug 19: The irate residents of Bhanbra village in Kathua district and Ravi Dass Mohalla Samba today blocked national Highway at Rajbagh and Samba respectively in support of their demands.
While the residents of Bhanbra village blocked the NH at Rajpora for one hour from 10 am to 11 am in protest against the damage caused to their crops by cattle of some rival group who deliberately push them in the fields for grazing.
The protesters said whenever they objected to it the rival group attack them and harass them. They said though the matter was taken up with the concerned police it too failed to take action forcing the villagers to block the NH today.
Later the SHO Rajbagh and SDPO Border visited the area and assured action in the matter. On their assurance the Highway blockade was lifted by the protesters.
In another protest the irate residents of Ravi Dass Mohlla, Samba who are facing water scarcity for over one week blocked the NH at Samba for 15 minutes.
The protesters raising slogans accused the PHE authorities for their failure in restoring water supply in the area. They warned to intensify agitation in case water supply was not restored by tomorrow. Later SHO Samba Sanjeev Chib visited the area and assured the people that water supply will be restored in the area soon.
On this assurance the protesters dispersed.
