Earlier, on last Friday the people of the town observed bandh and held protests against the administration for lack of specialist doctors in the hospital. At that time the district administration and Chief Medical Officer Ramban had assured the people that they will provide the doctors in the hospital within one week.
Even a written order by Director Health Services Jammu was issued at that time for the posting of a gynecologist in the hospital with immediate effect but the said doctor has still not joined after passing one week.
The civil society in his memorandum said to the administration and health department not to force the general masses of Banihal to go on indefinite strike resulting in the suffering of all the sections of the society. They appealed the concerned quarters to fulfill their genuine demands within a week’s time.
They threatened the administration that if the demands regarding the functioning of the hospital by way of providing all the doctors whose posts are still lying vacant are not full filled; they will go for indefinite strike from August 14, 2015.
