JAMMU, Aug 5: Highlighting their long pending demands and grievances, All Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Association has threatened State-wide protests and dharnas from this October if the Government does not take action on their issues.
“Despite our repeated pleas, the State Government has shown no response to our genuine demands like release of arrears of revised pension and DA, enhancement of Medical Allowance, etc thus forcing us to think of adopting agitational path,” said Madan Lal Abrol, general secretary of the Association while talking to media persons, here today.
Asking the Government to modify the recent order on rationalizing pension so that all pensioners may get the enhanced pension, he also demanded the additional quantum of pension in favour of State pensioners after attaining the age of 80, 85, 90 and 100 years and above on the analogy of the Central Government older pensioners.
Mr Abrol also demanded issuance of Pension Cards, introduction of insurance scheme for them and pension for the employees of Road Transport Corporation.
“If no action is taken on our demands, the Association will have no option other than to organize district and block level protest dharnas from this October,” warned Mr Abrol, who was accompanied convener of the Association Mukund Lal Sharma and Raj Kumar.
Going a bit off the demands of pensioners, the Association leaders also highlighted some others issues and alleged rampant corruption in the State administration. “The recent adjustment of newly promoted Masters and Lecturers is an example as about 300 promotees have been placed within zero to ten kilometers whereas the rest 225 have been tossed to remote areas,” Mr Abrol explained and demanded immediate modification of hard hit cases.
The Association also alleged corruption in various Centrally sponsored schemes and said that the State Government has failed to deliver goods on all fronts of the administration.
