JAMMU, Jan 31: A core committee meeting of State Pensioners’ Association, Jammu, was held here today under the chairmanship of its president, Govind Ram Sharma, wherein the pensioners highlighted their demands.
The meeting condemned the Government for adopting delaying tactics in resolving their demands, which included release of 10% DA installment arrears in favour of State employees and pensioners, 6% DA arrears with effect from January, 2009 to June 30, 2009, enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 and merging of 50% DA into basic pension.
The participants criticized the State Government for not releasing 3rd installment of 6th Pay Commission arrears as pensionary benefits and sanctioning Mediclaim scheme in favour of the State pensioners, as has been done in case of State Gazetted officers.
The meeting also took exception over disparity of pension between pre and post retirees of January 1, 2006 and expressed resentment that even after issuance of Government Order No 57 F of 2013, the issue has not been solved till now.
The State pensioners also demanded the Government to pay additional quantum of pension after attaining the age of 80-85, 90-95 and 100, on the lines of the Central Government.
The Association urged the Government to solve their issues within one month or otherwise be ready to face a strong protest.
