Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Employees, pensioners to vote against NC, Cong’ DE Nov 1′. The pensioners are an aggrieved community as the Government has not met its demands so far. The pensioners have time and again requested the Government to release its pensionary benefits along with two DA installments of 10 percent and seven percent.
The pensioners have been facing numerous problems on account of rising prices of essential commodities and medicine. They fail to meet these expenses through the paltry sum which is termed as pension. And have to depend on their family members to meet the expenditure. At times this dependence hurts their ego and self respect.
One fails to understand why the Government could not concede the demands of pensioners and other employees when it met the demands of legislators in one Cabinet decision. This clearly means that it has two measuring rods- one for the privileged, and one for the underprivileged. The Government has remained quite insensitive to the problems of pensioners throughout its term.
Yours etc….
