KATHUA, Jan 7: The daily wagers & need base workers of district Kathua held a demonstration in front of the office of the Executive Engineer, Sub Transmission Division-III, Kathua under the banner of Provincial Electrical Employees Union Jammu in support of their long pending demand of regularization.
The protest was organized under the chairmanship of P.C Sharma, provincial president of the Union where daily wagers and need base workers participated and raised slogans in protest of their long pending demands like regularization of their services and payment of their long pending wages.
While talking to media , P.C. Sharma demanded creation of 400 supernumerary posts of Class-IV, Executive Cadre in district Kathua for the regularization of leftover 500 PDL’s engaged after 1994 and payment of wages to 3405 Need Base Workers of Jammu province through budgetary provision immediately.
Sharma said that 1200 PDD daily wagers of Kashmir province were regularized in terms of PDD Service Recruitment Rule 381 of 1981 with special Cabinet decision No.151/23/2012 Dt:-30.08.2012 and other 400 regularized/promoted through DPC in terms of SRO-381 of 1981 against available vacancies of Junior Lineman, Bill Distributor, Chowkidar and Orderly etc. in December 2018 where lot of discrimination was done with the daily wager of district Kathua.
Sharma said that only 76 vacancies of Class-IV cadre are there in Kathua district which are insufficient for regularization of 500 daily rated workers who rendered more than 15 years service in the Department. The policy already announced in shape of SRO-520 is quite eyewash in respect of regularization of daily wagers.
Moreover in the same Department the daily wagers of Kashmir province have been regularized in terms of above said SRO-381 of 1981 so why the daily wagers of district Kathua are not being regularized on the same analogy.
Sharma said that need base workers of Kashmir province have been converted into PDL against those PDL’s who have been regularized in 2012 and December 2018 but 3405 need base workers of Jammu province are deprived of their wages as no budgetary provision has been created for payment of their wages. The future of these need base workers and their families’ is in shambles. The education of their children has been stopped due to financial crunch, he added.
Sh. P.C Sharma again strongly demanded regularization of 500 Daily Rated Workers of District Kathua and payment of 3405 Need Base Workers of Jammu
