Srinagar, Dec 4: The former chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Exams (JKBOPEE), Mushtaq Ahmad Peer, had written a letter to Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police to investigate irregularities in the Common Entrance Test- 2012, Counsel of the main accused told a local court here today.
Advocate Mohammad Abdullah Pandit, the Counsel of the main accused in the CET-2012 scam, Peer, while arguing his bail plea told the court that he is dropping a bomb shell that Peer had written a letter in 2012 to Crime Branch seeking investigation into the bungling in CET-2012.
Peer’s Counsel while arguing for grant of bail to him was pleading form BOPEE chairman’s non-involvement in the CET-2012 scam. But the Crime Branch Prosecuting Officer replied: “It is like thief reporting that theft has taken place.”
The court deferred the hearing on the bail plea of Peer till December 10.
The Crime Branch today told the Court that it can investigate any case referred by Director General of Police or Government to the investigating agency. It may be mentioned here that Peer’s Counsel was arguing that Crime Branch has no jurisdiction to investigate CET-2012 scam.
The court has also reserved judgment on the bail plea of Sajjad Ahmad Bhat till December 10. Sajjad is one of the brokers who has allegedly sold the question papers of CET-2012 to several candidates who were selected for the MBBS course in 2012.
