JAMMU, July 21: A pedestrian was knocked to death by a car in Akhnoor area of city outskirts, today.
According to the reports, Kasturi Lal (70) son of Nanak Chand, resident of Bumal, was walking along the road when a speeding Swift car (bearing registration number JK02CB-0399), which was on its way from Akhnoor to Sohal, hit and killed him on the spot.
The police shifted the body to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor where after postmortem, it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites. In this connection, a case FIR number 112 under Sections 279, 304A IPC was registered at police station Akhnoor and the vehicle involved in the mishap seized while a manhunt was on to nab the accused car driver, who managed to fle from the spot of crime.
