UDHAMPUR, Mar 10: A middle aged man was crushed to death by a rolling boulder, which hit him when he was on way to his home, here last night at village Barmeen.
The deceased was identified as Beli Ram (56), son of Chatar Singh, resident of village Barmeen.
Some road work was going on in the village and JCB machine was on work last night when a big boulder, rolling from nearby hillock, hit the deceased, who reportedly died on the spot.
Later, body of the deceased was shifted to District Hospital Udhampur for legal formalities while Udhampur Police has registered a case in this connection.
Meanwhile, BDC Ghordi Arti Sharma along with SDM Ramnagar Wehied ul Rehman, Sarpanch Sushma Devi, Panch and other officers today visited the residence of Beli Ram provided immediate compensation of Rs one lakh to the family on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib.
