Srinagar, Sept 14: Police today said it arrested a peddler and recovered poppy straw from his possession in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A police spokesman said a naka was laid at Awneera Crossing in Zainpora area of the district. “During naka checking, a motorcycle bearing registration number JK01G -3651 driven by Mohammad Shafi Ganie was intercepted. On search, a nylon bag filled with 8.5 kg poppy straw was recovered from his possession,” he said.
Police have registered a case under FIR number 65/15 under Section 15 NDPS Act and investigation was taken up, the spokesman added.
