JAMMU, Jan 20: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu is organizing a five days Professional Development Training (PDT) Program for senior faculty of TEQIP Institutes.
The program was inaugurated by Prof Anju Bhasin, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu and Prof B S Sahay, Director IIM Jammu, here today. IIM Jammu is recognized as the partner institute by NPIU, Ministry of Human Resource Development in providing a series of training to the Vice Chancellors, Board Members, Deans, Directors, TEQIP coordinators and senior faculty of TEQIP Institutes.
This PDT aims to offer a pragmatic approach to the issues surrounding strategic planning in higher education, including an open recognition of some of the idiosyncrasies of the higher education. The PDTs will yield strategic thinking from groups and move TEQIP Institutions in an innovative direction.
Speaking on the inaugural occasion, Prof Sahay emphasized on achieving excellence in teaching and research, which, he said, should be executed appropriately with the help of structured planning. “We should focus more on making our students job creators not job seekers,” he added. He also emphasized on the exemplary conduct of the faculty to be the role model for the student.
In her inaugural speech, Prof Anju Bhasin, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, spoke about the importance of research collaborations, reaching out to the researchers from different areas and promoting the teacher-student dialogues. She also stressed upon the adaptability of a teacher in the demanding students’ needs of present days.
The introductory address in the inaugural session was given by Prof Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Co- Director PDT and the session concluded with a vote of thanks given by Prof Sarbjit Singh, Co-Director PDT.
