PDP’s Gandhi Nagar Zone Committee members resign

JAMMU, Sept 18: Asserting that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not following the footsteps of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in uniting all the three regions of the State, Nitish Mahajan, Zonal President PDP from Gandhi Nagar constituency resigned from the post of the basis membership of party along with his entire team of Gandhi Nagar Zone Committee.
Addressing a press conference, Mahajan said that it is not morally and ethically correct for him to remain in PDP.
“On many occasions, I raised issues like illegal settlement of Rohingyas in Jammu, ignoring the Dogras in education department, discrimination in job opportunities for youth, but PDP never supported him”, he said.
Mahajan said that it is not possible for him to continue with the PDP which disregarded the demands and aspirations of Jammu region, adding that “I have sent my resignation to PDP President Mehbooba Mufti with a request to accept it immediately.
Advocating a solution where people of all the three regions of the State are happy, he said that the Government needs to address the aspirations of the people of the regions.
“Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed wanted to connect the hearts of the people but we have left every soul with broken heart. We have gone backwards”, he said adding that he joined politics on the invitation of Sayeed, but unfortunately with his demise, the situation changed drastically.
“I have decided to undertake people contact programme and I am visiting different parts of the region. It does not matter if I am on any post or associated with any party. What is important is to remain in touch with people”, he asserted.
The entire zone committee, which quit PDP along with Nitish Mahajan are Krishan Lal Sharma Vice President Gandhi Nagar Zone, Sandeep Sharma, General Secretary Gandhi Nagar Zone, Sunil Sharma Secretary Gandhi Nagar Zone, Anita Verma Treasurer, Rajni Devi Media Secretary and Sukhdev Singh, Organizing Secretary.
