PDP stages protest against BJP Govt for fuel price hike

JAMMU, July 20: People’s Democratic Party today held a strong protest in Jammu against the unprecedented price hike of essential commodities especially the petrol, diesel and gas and anti- people policies of BJP Government at the Centre.

PDP vice president, Abdul Hamid Chowdhary led the protest demonstration from People’s Democratic Party headquarters Jammu and blocked the National Highway .
The protesters, were carrying party flags and shouting anti-BJP slogans. After holding peaceful protest, later they dispersed peacefully.
The PDP activists assembled near the party office and staged a demonstration against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for rising prices of essential commodities, especially petrol, diesel and LPG.
“The BJP Government is anti-poor and pro-capitalist. It has broken the backbone of the common people by its anti-people policies and dictatorial attitude,” PDP vice president Hamid Chowdhary said.
He said that the Government directives issued on a regular basis are aimed at crippling Jammu’s economy. “From handing over mining operations to non locals to stopping practice of annual Darbar move every administrative measure has caused a serious dent on Jammu”, he added.
The protest was maintained to the limited presence and symbolic in nature in view of the Covid-19 situation and the advisory. The party leadership warned of massive protests all the issues of price hike, once the Covid situation improves, and if the Modi Govt remained unmoved and adamant to lower the taxes on petrol, diesel and gas.
“The policies of the government have crippled the economy of Jammu and every section of the society is facing the direct brunt”, general secretary of the party Amreek Singh Reen said.
He said that industrialists, transporters and even the working class were hit in Jammu post abrogation of Article 370.
Prominent party leaders who participated in the protest included Mohd Rashid Qureshi, Anil Sethi (PAC Member), Abdul Rashid Malik, Satpaul Singh Charak, Ashok Jogi, Varinder Sonu, Parvez Waffa and others.
