PDP observes Foundation day, resolves to work for peoples’ welfare

JAMMU, July 28: Emphasizing for adopting the vision of peace and reconciliation envisaged by its founder Mufti Muhammad Syed, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party today said that the roadmap formulated by the party still holds the key to peace and stability in the subcontinent.
“The vision and roadmap of the party is clear and emphasizes on the resolution of all the issue through dialogue and peaceful means”, the party leaders said, while addressing a gathering here at the party headquarters to mark 21st foundation day of PDP.
“Today the relevance of the PDP’s vision has assumed more significance in view of the current scenario not only in Jammu and Kashmir but entire subcontinent. We have been insisting that there is no alternate to reconciliation and dialogue and our late leader Mufti Muhammad Syed always believed that Jammu and Kashmir can be an epicentre of South Asian cooperation”, they observed.
The speakers highlighted the contribution of the party in restoring peace not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in the entire region after its formation in 1999. “The very foundation of the party was laid on the promise to struggle for strengthening ties between the different shades of opinion within the state, people of three erstwhile regions, state and rest of the country besides with the neighbouring countries,” they added.
“In in short stints of power during the last 21 years the party has worked with zeal and commitment towards achievement of this objective. The PDP’s rule from 2002 is recorded in the history as a golden era and again after 2014 the initiatives of peace and reconciliation taken by the party led Governments were extraordinary”, they said.
“From emerging as a political regional alternate to standing the tests of times, PDP has in the last 21 years dedicated itself to the service of people, who are the core and fundamental interest of the party”, the speakers said adding, “The party leadership has always stood firm without compromising the core ideology and we are even today committed to stand with the people in their struggle of identity and dignity”.
“The special status incorporated in the Constitution of India by way of insertion of Article 370 and special provision granting powers to state legislature to make laws for citizenship were incorporated to accommodate the aspirations and distinct identity of people of Jammu and Kashmir”, they said.
