JAMMU, Jan 16: PDP member from Upper House, Yasir Reshi today termed senior National Conference leader and MLA, Mohd Akbar Lone as `land grabber’ and demanded that action under law should be taken against him.
While raising point of information in the Legislative Council today, Yasir Reshi along with another PDP member, Saifuddin Bhat stood up and invited the attention of the Chairman that during last session also the issue was raised regarding Ghas Charai land grabbing by senior NC leader and MLA Mohd Akbar Lone at Friends Colony in Humhama area near Srinagar Airport. The Government assured to take action and also give reply but no response has come so far.
Yasir claimed that unfortunately a Legislator who keeps himself in high esteem and talks higher about himself in the Assembly and outside, was involved in land grabbing, what can you expect from a common man. He claimed that nearly 3 to 4 kanals of Ghas Charai land worth crores has been grabbed by this NC Legislator and why action has not been taken against him.
He pleaded the Chairman to issue directions to the Government to hold inquiry into the matter and also give a statement in the House. Saifuddin Bhat also supported and demand that a House Committee be framed for the same. The Chairman however, remained non-committal on the issue despite repeated pleas by the members.
