PDP express concern over damage caused by hailstorm in Kashmir, demand compensation

 

SRINAGAR:  Expressing concern over the damage caused by hailstorm to Horticulture and Agriculture sectors in various parts of Kashmir valley, ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) asked the government to immediately assess the losses and provide necessary relief to the farmers.

“Government should take notice of the grave of the situation that has arisen due to hailstorm. Horticulture and Agriculture sectors were already under stress, but hailstorm has now made the situation worse in north Kashmir district of Bandipore and south Kashmir district of Anantnag,” PDP General Secretary Nizamudin Bhat said.

He demanded that revenue and other relevant agencies be geared for accurate, fair and timely assessment of losses with a financial provision for adequate support.

Mr Bhat also hoped that state government will exhort upon union government to meet the losses arising out of calamities like floods, rains windstorm and hailstorm. (AGENCIES)
