JAMMU, Jan 7: Demanding immediate restoration of the political activities in Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while paying rich tributes to its founder Mufti Mohd Sayeed today said the vision envisaged by its founder will act as a guiding principle for the party’s future strategy.
For paying tributes to Sayeed on his 4th death anniversary, party supporters, activists and leaders assembled at the PDP office in Jammu and highlighted late leader’s role in rejuvenating the hope for peaceful and tranquil Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, former MLC and general secretary Surinder Chowdhary highlighted the role of Mufti Mohd Sayeed in taking series of confidence building measures and making strenuous efforts in making peace an inseparable feature of JK. He castigated the BJP over its dubious role towards Jammu and Kashmir, stating that even when the people in Jammu voted in droves for the BJP during the polls, the party backstabbed them, denying the coming generation the livelihood opportunities in a ruthless manner.
He took a dig at the BJP for leaving the vital projects like AIIMS, IIT and IIM in limbo and added that the agrarian crises in Jammu is mounting with each passing day with little being done to mitigate the massive losses incurred by the farmers due to the climate change.
Senior PDP leader Hamid Choudhary while paying tributes to PDP founder termed him a lover of peace who made always relentless efforts for prevalence of peace as and when he got the opportunity and lived an active and dynamic life, appeared on state’s horizon like a meteor and unfortunately disappeared.
Former MLC Ved Mahajan asked the party functionaries to work with greater coordination and strengthen the party on the ground. He added that at this crucial juncture of history it is the PDP alone that has the ability to steer the ship to the shore and that time has proven beyond doubt that the PDP has stood steadfast every time against all odds to safeguard Jammu and Kashmir’s core interests.
The senior leaders who took part in the function included- Daman Basin, Falail Singh, R K Bali, Master Tasaduq Hussian, Ashok Jogi, Firdoz Tak, NS Raina, Rajinder Manhas, Virender Singh, Jusmeet Kour Pandy, Mohd Shafiq Bhat, Harmesh Salathia, Nasir Hussain, JD Singh, MR Qurashi and others.
