PDP committed to address grievances of marginalized section of society: Vikramaditya

JAMMU, July 2: Senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Vikramaditya Singh today reiterated his party’s commitment to address grievances of the depressed and marginalized lot of the society. He said that policies and programmes of PDP were formulated by incorporating wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society in general and weaker sections in particular.
Vikramaditya Singh was addressing a meeting of Jammu West constituency along with members of the Valmiki Samaj to discuss problems being faced by this section of the society. Vikramaditya along with general secretary of the PDP, Daman Bhasin addressed members of the Valmiki Samaj and assured to solve their day today problems.
PDP leaders touched upon vital issues relating to the public. They raised the long standing issue of voting rights for members of the Valmiki Samaj and their proper integration into the State after more than 65 years. He said it was a matter of shame for our society and Government that authorities continue to use the derogatory word “Bhangee” in public and official documents while stating cast of this section of the society.
Singh also brought up the issue of the ‘Schedule Caste Certificate’ that was earlier issued once in the lifetime and now required to be issued every five years.
Public demand of relocation of the slaughter house in the city was also addressed by the PDP leader. Singh assured all present that these matters would be taken up with the State Government and addressed in a proper manner.
