PDP also joins “alliance of convenience”: Brig Gupta

JAMMU, Mar 26: In keeping with their agenda of maintaining Kashmiri hegemony and suppressing the other two regions of the State, Mehbooba Mufti has also decided not to field any candidates in the two Parliamentary seats of Jammu in order to “prevent division of secular votes,” whereas in Kashmir they continue to spit venom against each other. This was stated by Brig (retd) Anil Gupta, State spokesperson of BJP in a statement issued here, today.
“It is amply clear that none of these parties have the confidence of beating BJP on their own strength. Therefore, they have entered into an “alliance of convenience” in the imaginary hope of defeating BJP, he said. The meteoric rise of BJP and the popularity of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi when compared to the ever declining vote share of NC, PDP and Congress will ensure that this opportunistic alliance does not make any dent on the BJP,” Brig Gupta, added.
Ironically, these parties have come together to protect secularism. However, none of them who have been in power at different times cared to include the word “secularism” in the preamble of State’s Constitution while it has been included in the Constitution of India vide 42nd Amendment in 1976 by Indira Gandhi. Incidentally, it was Congress backed Government of Sheikh Abdullah in the State at that time. Even thereafter, there have been series of NC-Congress Governments but none bothered to add word secular fearing adverse reaction from a section of the State’s population,” accused Brig Gupta.
He said the fact is that these parties use the word secular only as a means for vote bank politics. To them secularism means; appeasement, scare mongering, hate politics, communal and anti-national politics. “For them shouting pro-Pakistan slogans is secularism but saying Jai Hind or singing the national anthem or Vande Matram is communal. Their leaders act as Pak-proxy, a nation born out of Two Nation Theory, and then call themselves and their parties as secular,” Brig Gupta added.
“For BJP secularism means equality, fraternity, unity and nationalism. It is for the people to understand the dubious communal politics being played by NC-PDP-Congress alliance to form an anti-Jammu front in the name of secularism and divide the region on sub-regional-religious basis to fulfill the Pakistan conceived Musharraf Plan,” warned Brig Gupta.
Brig Gupta further said that the party which not only opposed the Dogra dynasty but also dethroned Maharaja Hari Singh, through deceit, humiliated him and later forced him to leave the State is today supporting the candidature of his grandson and the later has not only accepted their help but is heaping praises on Farooq Abdullah for enabling his father to become a MP and now helping him for the same.
Brig Gupta has appealed to the people of Jammu to leave no stone unturned to defeat the opportunistic “Alliance of Convenience.”
