JAMMU, Dec 4: The Jammu West unit of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) today held a strong protest demonstration here at Office of Chief Engineer, PDD, Jammu, against prolonged curtailments and frequent breakdown of power.
PDP activists, led by president, Jammu West, Puneet Jamwal, assembled at Chief Engineer Office and shouted slogans against PDD and State Government for their failure to improve power supply scenario in the Jammu West area.
“Despite the fact that all the residents of Jammu west area have permanent electricity connections and timely pay their dues, the power is being curtailed for several hours that too without any schedule or notice, which has made the life of people miserable”, Jamwal said.
The protestors demanded immediate intervention of the Chief Minister holding Power portfolio to stop both unscheduled and scheduled night curtailment. They also warned that PDP would hold series of protests in all sub-divisional offices of Jammu West if PDD failed to concede its demands.
Meanwhile, in order to strengthen the ST/SC/OBC Cell of PDP, the PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, has nominated Ravi Salgotra and Vijay Anand as president and vice-presidents, respectively of ST/SC/OBC Cell of Jammu District (Urban). She also nominated Sunil Fangotra as Zonal president, Gandhi Nagar Zone of ST/SC/OBC Cell.
