PDD lineman electrocuted

SAMBA, July 3: A lineman of PDD was electrocuted during repairs at industrial area of Samba. The deceased has been identified as Sham Lal, 45 of Kehli Mandi in Samba.
After receiving the information police team led by SHO, Samba reached the spot and informed the PDD employees about the incident but no senior official from PDD came to the spot.
After the incident locals stage protest against PDD here today, who demand to punish the officials for resuming power supply in the transmission line during repair work.
Locals said that no official from PDD Department reached the spot to lift the body from pole. The body was later pulled down with the help of police and SDRF jawans.
According to PDD authorities, though the PDD employees had disconnected the main power supply connection, somebody started the generator without disconnecting the main supply of his complex, which resulted in reversing the current and led to the electrocution of lineman.
Police spokesperson said that Sham Lal, a lineman, was repairing the main transmission line in industrial area of Samba, suddenly, the current started flowing in the electric wires. He received a severe electric shock and died on the spot.
We have registered a case of death due to negligence and investigation is on,” said Sanjeev Chib, Station House Officer, Samba.
