JAMMU, July 3: JKP Cricket XI defeated Shastri Cricket XI by 5 wickets and sailed into next stage of the ongoing Monsoon Tri-Series Cricket League, which is being played at GGM Science College ground, here today.
Batting first, Shastri Cricket XI scored 156 runs in the stipulated 35 overs, with Avesh Sharma (40), Vishal Singh (38) and Arvind (16) being the main scorers.
From JKP Cricket XI, Bandeep Singh was the main bowler who took 4 wickets, Skipper Rajesh Gill scalped 2 wickets while Ram Dayal captured 1 wicket.
In the second inning, JKP Cricket XI achieved the target in 28.4 overs by losing 5 wickets. Nipun Verma was the top scorer with 57 runs, Rajesh Gill contributed with 29 runs, while Jatin and Bandeep made 24 and 20 runs respectively.
For Shastri Club Vishal Singh, Amit Sharma, Vicky and Arvind took one wicket apiece.
Bandeep Singh of JKP Cricket XI was adjudged as man of the match.
