SRINAGAR, Feb 6: Churanda village in Hajipeer sector on the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri, North Kashmir is without power for past over 20 days.
The villagers told Excelsior that on January 16 after heavy snowfall the poles got uprooted at several places resulting in the snapping of electricity to the village and adjacent villages.
The villagers alleged that the officials of the Power Development Department are demanding money from them for restoration of power.
They said that they are ready to provide free manpower to the PDD for restoration of the main electricity supply line to the village but refused to pay money. They have urged higher ups of the PDD to intervene.
