PDD employees stage protest at CE’s office

JAMMU, Nov 7: The employees from Power Development Department (PDD) held strong protest demonstration outside the office of Chief Engineer, EM&RE Wing here today.
A large number of employees and workers under the banner of Provincial Electric Employees Union, Jammu, led by senior trade unionists  Bishan Singh, District president Jammu  and Provincial chairman  of the Union PC Sharma assembled in the office complex of Chief Engineer EM&RE Jammu, at Canal Road  in the morning and started protest demonstration at around 11 am. The agitating workers were shouting slogans, projecting their demands.
They were demanding regularization of  daily wagers and need based workers by creating a concrete policy at par with SRO 64 of 1994, release of payments of these workers without any much delay, provision of proper designation  and proper grade to all the employees who are working as linemen, meter readers  and SBA, bring amendment in service recruitment rules as per SRO 381, amendment in employees welfare scheme, re-organisation of department, implementation of SRO-59 in Jammu whereas, it has been implemented in Kashmir.
Several employees leaders also addressed the gathering and criticized the higher authorities for not addressing pending issues of the employees.
Prominent among others who participated in protest program included, Darshan Verma, Pawan Kumar, Ajit Singh, Ashwani Kumar, Ravinder Goswami, Janak Raj, Parshotam Sharma and Sanjay Kumar.
