UDHAMPUR, Sept 12: The Forum of Engineers and Technical Staff, with Engineers and staff of different wings of Power Development Department today held strong protest at DC office Udhampur against the alleged manhandling of Technician on duty.
They said that Technician Chet Ram, while on official duty at Receiving Station Battal Udhampur was allegedly manhandled by Police officials from Majalta Police Post who came to the receiving station to enquire about the status of the 33KV Line, which was faulty.
The whole incident happened at 11 pm in the intervening night when the Technical staff was on the job locating the fault on the line. Condemning the incident, all the PDD union representatives along with the Executive Engineer PDD met Deputy Commissioner Udhampur and demanded stringent action against the erring police officials in time bound manner so that morale of the employees of PDD who are working in very adverse conditions is safeguarded.
After listening to the PDD employees, the Deputy Commissioner in consultation with the SSP Udhampur constituted a fact finding committee into the incident.
