PDD employees hold protest

Srinagar, May 14: The J&K Central Non-Gazetted Electrical Employees Union held a protest demonstration outside the office of Chief Engineer Electric at Jahangir Chowk here today.
The employees of Power Development Department (PDD) were raising slogans against proposed privatization of PDD, illegal promotions and lack of safety tool kits to employees.
The protestor demanded regularization of JKPDD/JKSPDC daily wagers and casual workers who have put in more than 7 years of service and revocation of all illegal promotions which are in abeyance, risk allowance for staff working in risk prone jobs and release of arrears in favour of employees regularized under SRO-64 of 1994 from the year 2000 onwards.
The protestors also demanded immediate ex-gratia relief to electrocuted employees and workers and promotion prospect of computer operators, assistants and helpers that is stagnated for the last 13 years.
They threatened to stage statewide agitation if their demands were not met immediately.
