PDD disconnects 763 connections, recovers Rs 62 lakh from defaulters

JAMMU, Nov 21: Power Development Department (PDD) today conducted disconnection drive in areas falling under Electric Sub Divisions I and II in Jammu and Electric Maintenance and Revenue Division Kathua during which 763 electric connections were disconnected and a sum of Rs 62.759 lakh was recovered on spot from the violators.
The enforcement team of Electric Sub Division-II, JPDCL, Shastri Nagar, headed by Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Jagdeep Singh Sasan and comprising of Assistant Engineer (AE) BS Chib, AE Balbir Kumar Bhagat, feeder managers and field staff conducted a disconnection drive today.
During the drive, the power supply of 103 defaulters (commercial and domestic consumers) was disconnected and a total of Rs 14.37 lakh revenue was collected on the spot.
Likewise, a team of officials of Electric Sub Division-I, Distribution, Gandhi Nagar, headed by AEE Sardari Lal along with AE Narotam Sharma and concerned feeder managers under the direct supervision of Executive Engineer PD Singh conducted a mass disconnection drive of the electric connections of the consumers, who has not paid arrear amount till date.
The team disconnected 46 commercial/domestic connections during the drive and also recovered an amount of Rs 25.989 lakh from the consumers on the spot. Areas where the drive conducted are Gandhi Nagar, Sainik Colony, Channi Himmat, Transport Nagar and adjoining areas.
The Executive Engineer of both the PDD Sub Divisions has appealed the electric consumers to pay their monthly electric bill in time and clear their outstanding dues if any to avoid disconnection.
Meanwhile, Executive Engineer of Electric Maintenance and Revenue Division Kathua, Mohammed Shafi told Excelsior that they have disconnected 602 illegal power connections in the Division and also collected a revenue of Rs 22.40 lakh during the first phase drive against the power theft in the last three days.
Electric Sub-Division Nowshera, JPDCL constituted by AEE Electric Sub-division Nowshera conducted inspections in various areas of Rajal, Dandessar & Lamberi and disconnected about a dozen illegal power connections.
A total revenue of Rs 3,50,188 was recovered on spot from the defaulters and 12 illegal connections were disconnected. 10.5 KW of load was revised on the spot. The Chief Engineer PDD has appealed the public for judicious use of power and pay timely dues for quality power supply to the consumers.
