JAMMU, Jan 5: The indefinite strike (Kam Chhorh Hartal) of the casual and need based workers of PDD entered the 137th consecutive day here today.
The agitating workers have launched protest dharna under the leadership of Akhil Sharma, state president and Shesh Kumar provincial president for Jammu region. The workers are demanding their regularization, framing of policy for regularization and release of their wages, insurance cover to the workers and compensation in case of serious mishap and death of the worker during duty.
The Union members alleged that State Government despite assurance has literally failed to address the pending issues of the temporary workers. They said the concerned minister (DyCM) never bothered to resolve the issue of the working class. It was resolved today to organise a grand rally from PDD (CE) office at Canal Road to the Civil Secretariat on January 7.
