PCVV, RGYB organize seminar

SAMBA, Aug 12: Pradesh Congress Vichar Vibhag (PCVV) in collaboration with Rahul Gandhi Youth Brigade (RGYB) organized a seminar at Kamoor-Ramgarh border on “The Failures of BJP Government and Sufferings of Border People”.
The seminar led by Sarbjit Singh Johal, President, PCVV Samba District was attended by locals alongwith senior Congress leaders.
Ashok Sharma, Advocate, Former MLA and MLC and Coordinator AICC Vichar Vibhag Incharge States of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana elaborated upon the Border Area Development Project (BADP) implemented in the eleven border districts of J&K. He said for J&K entire eleven border districts Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Kargil and Leh should be brought under BADP scheme instead of only restricting this scheme to the border blocks of these districts, otherwise the very purpose and spirit of this scheme gets lost.
He demanded to immediately provide 5 marlas plot with housing facility per family to the border people, 25 lakh as compensation to the martyrs who died in border firing, Rs 2 to Rs 5 lakh to the injured, 10 lakh to the persons rendered 50 per cent disable or more, declare upto 10 km area of IB and LoC as border area for reservations, increase the border quota of reservation from existing 3 per cent to 5 per cent and also provide pacca tranches in every house.
Jahangir Mir, former Deputy Chairman, J&K Legislative Council said that border people are their strategical asset who move shoulder to shoulder with the army during war and bear all hazards and sufferings on the borders and they deserve a fair deal.
Tasadaq Hussain, Former MLC said that BJP has failed on all fronts. The promises to bring back black money from abroad and provide 1 crore jobs per year as promised by Prime Minister in election speeches have turned hollow, he added.
