JAMMU, Jan 10; The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force (HoFF) Jammu & Kashmir, Sh. Sarvesh Rai, today released The Himalayan Avian’s New Year Calendar 2026, titled “The Avian Serenity,” at Kala Kendra Jammu.
The programme was organised by The Himalayan Avian in collaboration with Kala Kendra Jammu. The calendar features photographs of various bird species, including a flock of Northern Pintails at Surinsar Lake, Ruddy Shelducks with other migratory ducks at Tawi River bed in the border area,a family of Lesser Whistling Ducks at Tersha Talab in Bhalwal block,resting Mallard ducks at the bank of Sanasar Lake, Rook crows migrating from Central Asia to the RS Pura border belt and student paintings of Gharana wetland birds.
Guldev Raj, the main contributor to this calendar, provided detailed information about the birds and their respective wetlands.
The PCCF appreciated the efforts of The Himalayan Avian, praising the organisation’s tradition of calendar releases since 2014. He noted that the conservation of Gharana wetland was a result of awareness efforts, such as made by Guldev Raj in the past years . He emphasized the collective responsibility to protect nature.
The event was attended by Wildlife Warden HQ Anil Atri, Warden Jammu Rafeek,Darshan Mehra, Exhibition Officer Irshaad, Prof Ashok Kumar, Kulbhushan Khajuria, Shashi Kant, Dr Ranjeet Katoch,Lakhanpal, Ramlal Bhagat Retd Joint Director Agricultural Deptt Jammu, writer Sheikh Mohd. Kalyan, Dr. Taran Singh and others.
