JAMMU, Jan 27: J&K Congress Committee president, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Chairman People’s Democratic Front Hakim Mohd Yasin and several other mainstream political leaders from J&K have been denied invitation to official functions by the Government on Republic Day.

Meanwhile, PDF chairman an former minister, Hakim Mohd Yasin while condemning Government’s decision to give up old practice of inviting mainstream leaders to Republic Day parades and `at home’ events in Srinagar and Jammu, said, “setting such trends shows the disrespect of the present dispensation in New Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.”
He slammed J&K authorities for removing the name `Sher-e-Kashmir ‘from the Police medals and cancellation of holidays on death and birth anniversaries of the towering leader, Sheikh Mohd Abdullah. He said late Sheikh Abdullah has immense contributions for the J&K State and such acts show inimical mindset of present rulers.
