Pay midday meal workers at par with daily wagers: Kazmi

JAMMU, Oct 26: President of Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi has expressed concern over the low wages of workers engaged to prepare midday meals in Government schools of J&K.
In a meeting, Kazmi said that these people are not getting proper wages and it becomes very hard for them to run the affairs of their families.
“Education Department is utilizing services of these people and is not providing them suitable wages as are being provided to other daily wagers,” he said adding that services of these workers must be acknowledged.
“These workers belong to the marginalized section of society and it becomes imperative for the Government to provide them benefits at par with daily wagers,” he said.
Provincial president of Apni Trade Union, Raj Sharma; members, Anirudh Vasist, Puran Chand, Mudassir Shah and others were also present in the meeting.
