Pawar asks women cadre to gear up for polls

KATHUA, Mar 9: Pradesh Mahila Congress organized a function celebrate International Women’s day and issued appeal to the women cadre of the party to gear up for coming elections.
The programme was held at Billawar and it was presided over by Indu Pawar (ex-MLA), president Pradesh Mahila Congress. Pawar said today’s woman is fully capable and ready to face any challenge. This is only due to the entering of women in each and every field of our life after being properly educated and trained.
She said a lot is needed to be done in providing, education, protecting the girl child and providing equal opportunities to women in every field. She said Congress Govt provided reservation to women candidates in Local Bodies but nothing has been done by NDA Govt in providing reservation to women in Legislative Assemblies/ Councils of States and Lok Sabha/ Rajya Sabha in Centre.
She appealed to the Govt at the Centre to take immediate steps in passing laws for providing reservation to women and this will help in early decision making and rapid progress of India at par with other developed nations.
The others who participated and spoke included Veena Devi District president Mahila Congress Kathua, Anjana Devi Block president Mahila Congress Billawar, Saroj, vice president Mahila Congress Billawar and Jyoti Devi.
